Precision puck diffuser screen by E&B Lab with a 150 μm membrane and diffuser plate for improved water distribution. Includes magnetic removal pin for easy handling after brewing.

Descripción

Diffuser Plate Design
A precision hole pattern distributes incoming water across the puck surface before it enters the coffee bed.

150 μm Photo-Etched Membrane
Integrated membrane stabilizes water flow and helps reduce localized channeling during extraction.

Cleaner Group Head
Acts as a barrier between coffee and the shower screen, helping reduce buildup of oils and fines.

Magnetic Removal Pin Included
The included magnetic tool allows safe and easy removal of the hot screen after brewing.

Italian Manufacturing
Produced in Italy by E&B Lab by IMS, known for precision espresso components used by professionals and home baristas worldwide.

Dose and headspace: If your basket is already filled close to capacity, reduce your usual dose by approximately 0.5–1 g as needed. The portafilter should lock into the grouphead normally, without the puck screen being pressed firmly against the shower screen.

NOTE: The included removal pin contains a magnet, allowing the screen to be lifted easily from the puck after brewing without touching hot metal. Stainless steel has different magnetism levels. Food Safe steel (SAE 304) products usually have lower magnetism levels. Thus, magnetic pin might work slightly different with other pucks or surfaces. The shape of the magnet might differ from pictured here.

Compatibilidad

Size 51 mm compatible with filter baskets for 51 mm tampers: all Delonghi Dedica, La Specialista, Icona, Scultura espresso machine baskets.

Instrucciones y cuidados

How to Use

  1. Prepare and tamp the coffee puck as usual.
  2. Place the diffuser screen on top of the tamped puck with the logo side down.
  3. Lock the portafilter into the grouphead. It should lock in normally without excessive resistance.
  4. Brew your espresso.
  5. After brewing, remove the portafilter and use the magnetic pin to lift the hot puck screen from the basket.
  6. Rinse the screen after each use.

If the portafilter feels unusually tight or the puck screen shows a strong shower-screen impression, reduce the coffee dose slightly.

Important: The magnetic pin is for removing the puck screen after brewing. Do not place it inside the portafilter during extraction.

Care

  • Rinse with warm water after every use. Never use harsh detergents and never wash in a dishwasher.
  • Allow the screen to dry before storing.
  • For deeper cleaning, soak it periodically in a suitable espresso-equipment cleaner, following the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Rinse thoroughly after using any cleaning product.
  • Do not bend, pry or scrape the screen with sharp tools.
  • The low-retention surface helps reduce buildup but does not eliminate the need for regular cleaning.
  • Minor cutting marks around the edge may occur during manufacturing and do not affect performance.

UNIFORM DISPERSION

Ensures perfectly even water distribution across the entire coffee puck.

CHANNELING REDUCTION

Protects the puck integrity, improving extraction consistency and cup quality.

The Story Behind the IMS Puck Screen

Why it’s a game changer for espresso and even for filter coffee lovers

Ayuda y consejos

Does this improve espresso extraction?

It helps stabilize how water enters the puck, which can improve extraction consistency.

Is it better than mesh puck screens?

This diffuser design actively controls water flow, rather than only protecting the shower screen.

Will it affect dose?

The screen occupies some space above the puck. That is why you may need to reduce your dose by 0.5–1 g if headspace becomes tight.

Do I still need to clean my machine?

Yes. The screen reduces buildup but does not replace regular backflushing and cleaning.

Can I use this on lever machines?

Yes. It helps protect the coffee puck from the initial water flow and reduces grounds being drawn into the piston chamber.

Will the screen lower the brewing temperature?

A cold metal puck screen may absorb a small amount of heat during brewing. For better temperature stability, warm it with hot water before placing it on the coffee puck.
